WAYLAND - Agnes M. Scott, 92, of Slingerlands, N.Y., formerly of Wayland, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Agnes was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Wayland, the daughter of Casper and Adeline (Staub) Yohonn. She was a lifelong resident of the Wayland area; however, she spent a couple of years in Rochester after graduating from Wayland Central School and the last few years in the Albany area.
Agnes and J. Robert Scott (the former president of The First National Bank in Wayland) entered into marriage on April 27, 1943. Together they celebrated more than 49 years of marriage prior to his passing away in September of 1992. Agnes and Robert raised three children: Robert J., John P. and Deborah.
As a housewife, Agnes loved to take care of her family; she especially loved to cook. Her cooking claim to fame was never cooking a bad meal. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Shopping trips to Rochester were very frequent, either with her husband on the weekends or by herself during the week.
Agnes was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Wayland, a member of the Rosary Society and the Wayland Historical Society. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband J. Robert Scott in 1992; her son John P. Scott in 2000; her brothers Elmer, Herman and Paul Yohonn; and her sister Marian Kimmel. She is survived by her son Robert J. Scott and his wife Cheryl of Wayland; her daughter Deborah Molyneux of Loudonville, N.Y.; grandchildren Chris (Rhonda) Spencer of Livonia, Amy (Don) Gould of Fairport, Jessica (Shane) Wolfanger of Arlington, Va., Matthew Molyneux of Loudonville and Amanda Molyneux of Loudonville; great-grandchildren Lucy Spencer and Aubrey Gould; and with several nieces and nephews.
Agnes's family and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A prayer service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Wayland. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wayland.
